About this course
Looks at what a human resource information system does for the HR function and how to put one in place. Delegates examine typical HRIS modules such as employee records, leave, payroll interface, recruitment and performance, then work through defining requirements, evaluating vendors, data migration, testing, user training and go-live, and the security and access controls an HR system needs.
Why this course
Many HR departments still run on paper files and disconnected spreadsheets, which leads to payroll errors, lost records and slow reporting. Others have bought systems that are poorly configured and under-used. A clear grasp of HRIS requirements and implementation helps organisations choose the right system, protect sensitive employee data and get reliable workforce information for decisions.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Describe the main HRIS modules and how they connect with payroll and finance systems
- Draft a user requirements specification for an HRIS selection or upgrade
- Evaluate vendor proposals against functional, technical and cost criteria
- Plan data migration, testing and user training for an HRIS rollout
- Set access controls and data protection measures for employee records
Who should attend
HR managers, HR systems administrators, IT staff supporting HR, payroll managers and project team members involved in selecting, implementing or upgrading an HR system. Basic HR and computer literacy is assumed.
How it is delivered
Facilitator-led sessions with system demonstrations, case studies of HRIS implementations, and group work drafting a requirements specification and vendor evaluation matrix. It is available as a public course, in-house at your premises, or as live virtual sessions. Duration and dates are confirmed in your quote, and in-house groups can have the examples and exercises fitted to their organisation.
