About this course
Sets out the daily procedures that keep guest rooms and public areas clean, safe and ready for guests. Topics include room cleaning sequences, bed making, bathroom hygiene, cleaning chemicals, tools and machines, linen and laundry control, lost property, room status reporting, guest privacy and security, and supervisory checks against agreed standards.
Why this course
Housekeeping is among the first things guests judge and comment on in reviews. Inconsistent procedures lead to complaints, wasted chemicals and linen, and health and safety incidents. Standardised, well-taught procedures raise guest satisfaction, control costs and make supervision easier.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Clean and prepare a guest room in the correct sequence and time
- Select and use cleaning chemicals, tools and machines safely
- Control linen, amenities and lost property using standard records
- Report room status accurately to the front office
- Inspect rooms and public areas against a housekeeping checklist
Who should attend
Room attendants, public area cleaners, housekeeping supervisors and newly appointed housekeepers in hotels, lodges, guesthouses, conference centres and hospitals. No prior training is required.
How it is delivered
Practical demonstrations followed by supervised practice of cleaning and bed-making routines, checklist exercises and discussion of common guest complaints. It is available as a public course or in-house at your premises. The practical work needs equipment and supervision, so it is not offered online. Duration and dates are confirmed in your quote, and in-house groups can have the examples and exercises fitted to their organisation.
