About this course
Covers environmental policy and governance, environmental risk assessment, pollution control, biodiversity and land management, environmental monitoring and reporting, and how to build environmental performance into organisational strategy and budgets. Delegates work through cases from mining, energy and municipal services and prepare an environmental improvement plan for their own institution.
Why this course
Environmental obligations now affect project approvals, financing, licences to operate and public trust. Senior staff in government and state-owned enterprises are expected to manage those obligations across departments, not only within an environmental unit. The programme gives managers the depth to set priorities, oversee compliance and report credibly on environmental performance.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Assess an organisation's significant environmental risks and compliance obligations
- Design an environmental policy and improvement plan with measurable targets
- Select suitable pollution prevention and control measures for common industrial activities
- Set up an environmental monitoring and reporting framework for senior management
- Evaluate environmental performance data and recommend corrective action
Who should attend
Environmental managers, senior environmental officers, sustainability leads and compliance managers in ministries, municipalities, regulators and state-owned enterprises. Delegates should have a background in environmental science or several years in an environmental role.
How it is delivered
Facilitator-led sessions combining sector case studies, group analysis of real environmental reports and a planning exercise on each delegate's own institution. It is available as a public course, in-house at your premises, or as live virtual sessions. Duration and dates are confirmed in your quote, and in-house groups can have the examples and exercises fitted to their organisation.
