Thesis Writing

Course code RMWP 012. Communication, Marketing and Research.

About this course

Supports postgraduate students and staff writing a master's or doctoral thesis. Topics include planning chapters, writing a literature review that builds an argument, presenting methodology, reporting and discussing findings, referencing and avoiding plagiarism, academic style and voice, managing supervisor feedback, and setting a realistic writing schedule. Delegates bring a chapter or outline and develop it during the course.

Why this course

Many employees studying part-time stall at the writing stage, delaying completion and the return on study funding their employer has invested. Structured guidance on thesis writing helps them make steady progress, meet university requirements and submit work of examinable quality.

What delegates will be able to do

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to

  • Plan the structure and content of each thesis chapter
  • Write a literature review that synthesises sources rather than summarising them
  • Present methodology and findings clearly and consistently with the research questions
  • Apply a referencing style correctly and use plagiarism checks responsibly
  • Set and keep a realistic writing schedule with supervisor milestones

Who should attend

Master's and doctoral candidates, including staff on study programmes funded by central banks, ministries and public entities, who are at the writing stage of their thesis or dissertation.
