About this course
Prepares reception and front desk staff who are the first contact for visitors and callers. Delegates practise greeting and registering visitors, telephone handling and message taking, managing appointments and boardroom bookings, handling mail and deliveries, applying security and access procedures, dealing with difficult visitors, and keeping the reception area professional and organised.
Why this course
Reception is where visitors, clients and officials form their first impression, and it is also a security control point. A well-run front office handles enquiries efficiently, keeps sensitive information and premises secure, and reflects well on the organisation.

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Greet, register and direct visitors according to access control procedures
- Answer, transfer and record telephone calls and messages accurately
- Manage appointment diaries and meeting room bookings without conflicts
- Deal politely and firmly with difficult or unauthorised visitors
- Keep confidential information secure at the front desk
Who should attend
Receptionists, front desk officers, switchboard operators, office assistants and administrators who staff reception areas in government offices, utilities, state-owned enterprises and companies. No prior training is required.
