About this course
Running a formal tender from start to finish on the issuing side is the focus. Delegates prepare tender documents, set compulsory and functional criteria, manage advertising, clarifications and briefing sessions, receive and open bids, coordinate evaluation and adjudication committees, prepare award recommendations, notify bidders, and handle debriefs and objections. Time is also given to managing tender timelines and keeping complete records.
Why this course
Tenders that are poorly planned or administered are delayed, cancelled or challenged, sometimes after months of work, and irregularities expose the organisation to legal and audit risk. Well-managed tenders reach award on time, attract credible bids and leave a clear record of how and why each decision was made.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Prepare a complete tender document set, including specifications, conditions and evaluation criteria
- Plan a tender timeline from approval to award
- Manage clarifications, briefing sessions, bid closing and bid opening procedures
- Coordinate evaluation and adjudication committees and prepare award recommendations
- Respond to bidder debrief requests and objections in a fair and documented way
Who should attend
Tender and bid administrators, procurement officers, bid committee secretariat staff and supply chain managers who run formal tenders in government, SOEs and large private companies. Delegates should be familiar with basic procurement processes.
How it is delivered
Facilitator-led sessions with a simulated tender run from document preparation to award, supported by case studies of challenged and cancelled tenders. It is available as a public course, in-house at your premises, or as live virtual sessions. Duration and dates are confirmed in your quote, and in-house groups can have the examples and exercises fitted to their organisation.
