About this course
Explains how electronic tools support each step of buying, from requisition and approval to e-tendering, e-auctions, electronic catalogues, purchase orders, invoice matching and payment. Delegates look at supplier registration portals, government e-procurement systems, controls and audit trails, data security and the steps involved in moving a manual process online. Attention is also given to user adoption, supplier readiness and measuring results after go-live.
Why this course
Governments and companies across the region are moving tendering and purchasing onto electronic platforms, often faster than staff and suppliers can adapt. Poorly managed implementations lead to workarounds, incomplete records and frustrated suppliers. Trained staff can run e-tenders properly, use the system's audit trail to support accountability, and shorten the time from requisition to payment.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Map a manual purchase-to-pay process and identify the steps suited to automation
- Set up and run an electronic tender, including bid submission, opening and evaluation
- Apply system controls, approval workflows and user access rights to reduce procurement risk
- Use e-procurement data and reports to monitor spend, cycle times and supplier performance
- Prepare an implementation plan covering training, supplier onboarding and change management
Who should attend
Procurement and supply chain officers, ICT staff supporting procurement systems, accounts payable officers, and managers planning or running an e-procurement rollout in government, SOEs or private companies. Basic computer literacy and a working knowledge of procurement are assumed.
How it is delivered
Facilitator-led sessions with system walk-throughs, process mapping exercises and case studies of e-procurement rollouts in public and private organisations. It is available as a public course, in-house at your premises, or as live virtual sessions. Duration and dates are confirmed in your quote, and in-house groups can have the examples and exercises fitted to their organisation.
