About this course
Builds intermediate skills in analysing data and presenting it clearly. Delegates cover data cleaning and reshaping, descriptive statistics, correlation, hypothesis testing and simple regression, followed by chart selection, visual design principles, dashboard layout and data storytelling. Exercises use Excel and Power BI, with an optional introduction to Python plotting for delegates who already code.
Why this course
Reports full of tables and poorly chosen charts slow decisions and can mislead readers. Analysts need both sound statistical methods and the ability to present findings so that managers see the point quickly. Stronger analysis and visualisation skills raise the quality of board packs, policy briefs and performance reports and reduce rework.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Clean and restructure raw datasets so they are ready for analysis
- Apply descriptive statistics, hypothesis tests and simple regression to workplace data
- Choose the chart type that best fits a comparison, trend or distribution
- Design a dashboard with clear layout, labelling and use of colour
- Present analytical findings as a short, evidence-based story for decision-makers
Who should attend
Analysts, economists, M&E officers, researchers and reporting staff who already work with data and want stronger analytical and presentation skills. Intermediate Excel ability is assumed.
How it is delivered
Practical exercises in Excel and Power BI on delegates' own data where possible, with peer review of charts and dashboards and redesign of existing reports. It is available as a public course, in-house at your premises, or as live virtual sessions. Duration and dates are confirmed in your quote, and in-house groups can have the examples and exercises fitted to their organisation.
