About this course
Practical setup of computer-based tools for collecting, storing, analysing and reporting M&E data. Delegates design digital forms for mobile data collection using tools such as KoboToolbox or ODK, structure indicator databases, clean and analyse data in Excel, build dashboards in Power BI or Excel, and plan data security, user access and backups.
Why this course
Paper-based M&E systems are slow, error-prone and hard to consolidate across sites, which delays reports and weakens decisions. Moving to well-designed digital tools shortens reporting cycles, improves data quality and gives managers timely access to results. Planning the system properly also avoids software choices that staff cannot maintain.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Design a mobile data collection form with skip logic and validation rules
- Structure an indicator database that links sites, periods and disaggregation
- Import, clean and analyse collected data in Excel
- Build an interactive dashboard that displays indicator progress against targets
- Set user access, backup and data protection procedures for the M&E system
Who should attend
M&E officers, data managers, information officers and ICT staff supporting M&E in government departments, utilities, development projects and NGOs. Delegates should be competent Excel users and familiar with basic M&E concepts.
How it is delivered
Computer-based practical sessions in which delegates build forms, a database and a dashboard step by step, using sample project data and their own indicators. It is available as a public course, in-house at your premises, or as live virtual sessions. Duration and dates are confirmed in your quote, and in-house groups can have the examples and exercises fitted to their organisation.
