Advanced Treasury and Cash Management

Course code FBARM 007. Central Banking, Finance and Audit.

About this course

Focuses on advanced treasury practice for organisations with significant cash, borrowing and currency exposures. Topics include rolling liquidity forecasts, cash concentration and pooling, short-term investment and counterparty limits, managing interest rate and foreign exchange risk with forwards and swaps, treasury policy and governance, and treasury performance reporting to executive committees and boards.

Why this course

Treasury decisions on funding, investment and hedging can move results more than many operating decisions, and mistakes are costly. Organisations with foreign currency debt or large imports carry real exposure to exchange rate swings. Strong treasury practice protects liquidity, lowers funding costs and keeps risk within limits the board has approved.

What delegates will be able to do

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to

  • Prepare a rolling 13-week and annual liquidity forecast
  • Set investment policies and counterparty limits for surplus cash
  • Quantify foreign exchange and interest rate exposures on the balance sheet
  • Select hedging instruments such as forwards and swaps for given exposures
  • Draft treasury policy sections and board-level treasury reports
