About this course
Develops the structure and techniques behind integrated three-statement models used for planning, funding and investment decisions. Delegates build a linked income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, add debt schedules and working capital drivers, and run scenario and sensitivity analysis. Model design standards, error checks, handling of circular references and presentation of outputs to decision-makers are also covered.
Why this course
Spreadsheet models drive major funding and investment decisions, yet many are hard to follow, poorly documented and contain errors that go unnoticed. Analysts who build to a clear standard produce models that colleagues can audit, update and trust. This reduces the risk of decisions based on faulty numbers and cuts the time spent rebuilding models each cycle.
What delegates will be able to do
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Build an integrated three-statement model that links and balances correctly
- Separate inputs, calculations and outputs according to recognised modelling standards
- Model debt schedules, interest circularity and working capital movements
- Run scenario, sensitivity and data table analysis on key assumptions
- Build error checks and audit an existing model for logic errors
Who should attend
Financial analysts, management accountants, investment and credit analysts, treasury staff and finance managers who already build spreadsheets for planning or evaluation. Confident Excel skills, including lookup functions, and a sound understanding of financial statements are required.
How it is delivered
Hands-on Excel workshops in which delegates build a full model from a blank workbook, with facilitator review of structure and logic at each stage. It is available as a public course, in-house at your premises, or as live virtual sessions. Duration and dates are confirmed in your quote, and in-house groups can have the examples and exercises fitted to their organisation.
